That Time Again

Posted on Thursday, May 20, 2010 by Dwayne

Well it’s that time again. Time to start getting ready to pack our bags. This summer Sharon and I are going to be going back to Peru. I will be leaving June 29 and returning August 2. Sharon will be heading down July 16-24. We are very excited about going this year. I want to apologize for not sending out our news letter, we just got so busy. Hopefully, you read it though. If not, it’s the post below this one. I will be updating the site again more readily as we get closer to the trip. I am also hoping to do some video journals this summer. You will be able to see them here or at youtube.com/dwayneparton.

Debt Free

Posted on Friday, February 19, 2010 by Dwayne

Man it feels good. As of 5 minutes ago we have completely payed off all our Sharon’s school loans. PRAISE THE LORD! I don’t think I could have imagined the relief that this gives and hopefully, it will open up more avenues and doors for us to do missions.

Prayer Request & News Letter

Posted on Thursday, January 21, 2010 by Dwayne

Prayer Request:
Just recently my nanna(how do you spell that) had a stroke, while she was in Panama City. My mom has been down there for a  week or so. Please pray for my mom and my nanna. Pray that my mom will have strength and that she will not be too stressed out, and pray that my nanna has a speedy recovery and that she makes it back to North Carolina Quickly.

Concerning the News Letter:
Sorry for the delay. I am sure you are all waiting anxiously. (Sarcasm) We are gong to get it out ASAP. We, or rather I, have been waiting for some Great News to share before I wrote the letter. And we do have some great news coming up. But it will just have to happen after the News Letter. We will keep you updated.

A God Send

Posted on Thursday, November 12, 2009 by Dwayne

I hate looking for cars. Ever since the wreck we have been trying to find Sharon a new car. At first we thought we might go with a 4runner, but then we thought about the cost of gas. So we started looking for a civic. I bet we looking at every craigslist in a 500 mile radius and found nothing. Everytime we did find one we thought was what we wanted it was alread sold. Well last night, we found a car. It had been traded in that day and one of our good friends brother sold it to us. They gave us a great deal, and we ended up getting a 2000 Honda Civic with 1/2 the miles of our subaru and for less that what the Insurance had given us for our old car. I would say that is a God send. It seems He works right when you are at your wits end and believe me I was there. Praise The Lord for our new car.

God Watching Out for us

Posted on Monday, October 19, 2009 by Dwayne

Well, we had a car accident yesterday morning. We were driving down interstate 412 coming back from Brason, Missouri going probably 60-70 mph. We were coming up on an intersection and the sun was rising directly behind us. The lady in the toyota did not see us. She pulled out in front of us and we hit her almost in T-bone fashion. God defiantly was watching out for us, b/c this bad situation could have been disastrous. Praise the Lord she was turning to go the direction we were traveling, if she had went straight across there is no doubt in my mind it would have been fatal. Instead she is a little sore from the impact, her passenger had to get stitches and has been a little sick from the pain medication, Sharon is bruised and pretty sore in the neck (initially we thought she broke her arm), and my chest is bruised. Considering the situation, I would say that is pretty good. I don’t really know what else to say about the situation, but Praise the Lord it was not worse. Please pray for the Lady we hit, she seems to be taking it very hard. She is so nice, and has called to check on us and everything. I would say her name, but that is not my place. This was just one of those freak things.

Our Story

Posted on Saturday, March 21, 2009 by Dwayne

Even before we knew one another we have had a heart for missions and travel. It is our desire to live in another country and be with a foreign people group. Over the past few months there has been an urgency put into our hearts to Go. If not now then when? Time is short and youth goes by quickly. We don’t know how long it is going to take to get overseas or if we ever will, but we know that right now it is time to pursue.

Many of you were there, and many know that we were married in January of 2007. Now, we have been happily married 2 years and are living in Oklahoma. We moved to Oklahoma in August of 2007, so that Sharon could attend and play soccer at Bacone College, in Muskogee. We really like it  here, and have met a wonderful group of people at both the College and Fusion Church.

Currently I work at Bacone College as the webdesigner/co-webmaster. It is a fantastic job. I love the people I work with and the work itself. Imagine that. Sharon graduates in May, WAHOO!, and currently works at Swim and Fit in Muskogee and teaches pilates. She too loves her job.

This summer we have been given the opportunity to travel to Peru. We will be in Peru from May 25 to August 3. While we are there we will be playing on a soccer team and traveling throughout Lima and the surrounding cities sharing the gospel with them. Soccer will be a great common ground for us and the locals.

We feel like this trip is the first stepping stone to take us one step closer to our goal. We are hoping that it will be the first of many doors we walk through.  This trip will also be a great language experience for us. Both of us have had many courses in spanish but we lack the emersion into the culture.
