Well it’s that time again. Time to start getting ready to pack our bags. This summer Sharon and I are going to be going back to Peru. I will be leaving June 29 and returning August 2. Sharon will be heading down July 16-24. We are very excited about going this year. I want to apologize for not sending out our news letter, we just got so busy. Hopefully, you read it though. If not, it’s the post below this one. I will be updating the site again more readily as we get closer to the trip. I am also hoping to do some video journals this summer. You will be able to see them here or at youtube.com/dwayneparton.

Prayer Request:
Just recently my nanna(how do you spell that) had a stroke, while she was in Panama City. My mom has been down there for a week or so. Please pray for my mom and my nanna. Pray that my mom will have strength and that she will not be too stressed out, and pray that my nanna has a speedy recovery and that she makes it back to North Carolina Quickly.

Concerning the News Letter:
Sorry for the delay. I am sure you are all waiting anxiously. (Sarcasm) We are gong to get it out ASAP. We, or rather I, have been waiting for some Great News to share before I wrote the letter. And we do have some great news coming up. But it will just have to happen after the News Letter. We will keep you updated.

I hate looking for cars. Ever since the wreck we have been trying to find Sharon a new car. At first we thought we might go with a 4runner, but then we thought about the cost of gas. So we started looking for a civic. I bet we looking at every craigslist in a 500 mile radius and found nothing. Everytime we did find one we thought was what we wanted it was alread sold. Well last night, we found a car. It had been traded in that day and one of our good friends brother sold it to us. They gave us a great deal, and we ended up getting a 2000 Honda Civic with 1/2 the miles of our subaru and for less that what the Insurance had given us for our old car. I would say that is a God send. It seems He works right when you are at your wits end and believe me I was there. Praise The Lord for our new car.

Well, we had a car accident yesterday morning. We were driving down interstate 412 coming back from Brason, Missouri going probably 60-70 mph. We were coming up on an intersection and the sun was rising directly behind us. The lady in the toyota did not see us. She pulled out in front of us and we hit her almost in T-bone fashion. God defiantly was watching out for us, b/c this bad situation could have been disastrous. Praise the Lord she was turning to go the direction we were traveling, if she had went straight across there is no doubt in my mind it would have been fatal. Instead she is a little sore from the impact, her passenger had to get stitches and has been a little sick from the pain medication, Sharon is bruised and pretty sore in the neck (initially we thought she broke her arm), and my chest is bruised. Considering the situation, I would say that is pretty good. I don’t really know what else to say about the situation, but Praise the Lord it was not worse. Please pray for the Lady we hit, she seems to be taking it very hard. She is so nice, and has called to check on us and everything. I would say her name, but that is not my place. This was just one of those freak things.

Well, we are back in the states. Actually we have been back for about a week and it is defiantly nice being home. For me there is a lot that I miss about Peru. I defiantly miss the food, something about potatoes and rice. UMMMMM! Seriously. I miss the Spanish, it is great being in a environment where you are surrounded by another language. I miss the surf/beach. Surfing by the way is really fun, and man is it a work out. The other thing I miss, the cost of living. Much cheaper there. Food, drinks, snacks. Much better price.

So there are a few things that are hard to get used to. Not hard as in I don’t like it, just awkward. One of those is flushing toilet paper. I have to remind myself every go that I can flush it now. Praise the Lord. Also, showering. You get so used to now showering daily showering seems ridiculous. The other odd thing, often you will find yourself wanting to respond to people in spanish. That just shows you how quickly habits start.

Ever since we have been back, it has been go go. Which is alright. I started work the day after I got back, and I am sure glad to be working again. We did some work on the new church building for fusion, it looks awesome. And I’ve been helping my friend with his house.

I will continue updating our blog so that you can see what our future plans are. Right now we know that our next step is to learn spanish. It is hard to be affective in ministry when you can not communicate. I am also praying about having another go at the soccer ministry in Peru. There are so many mistakes that I made and learned from, I would love another opportunity.

Hopefully in the next couple of days I can add a good deal of pictures to the website for you to see. Thank you again for all of your prayers and support. God has been exceedingly good to us. Please continue to pray that God will clearly reveal the next steps for us.

That is all that is left. This has been a fantastic trip for Sharon and I, though it has been hard and often times more than trying. Being with 13 people for 2 months is just hard I guess. I am hoping to make another attempt at this next summer, we will just have to see how everything pans out. For now, our next steps involve lots of studying Spanish. Hopefully, we will be closer to fluent next time. This trip we learned a lot as far as language goes, and even more as far a leadership goes.
